Thanksgiving Message from Pastor Jose
Thanksgiving Message from Pastor Jose

Like the Pilgrims of old, today we pause to express our gratitude to our God for the love, health, happiness, and hope, He has showered our family with. One of the biggest blessings of our lives is the unique privilege to serve you throughout the North Atlantic region of the United States and the country of Bermuda. On this special day we thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and countless expressions of love, these mean the world to us.

Your hours of hard selfless work and sacrifice on behalf of our church, and its younger generations, do not go unnoticed; they will continue to be blessed by Jesus and truly treasured by us. Your presence, involvement, enthusiasm, and remarkable commitment make Adventist Youth Ministries in the Atlantic Union possible and extraordinary, and for that, We Thank You.

On this day, we remember the many families whose homes have been destroyed, and those who lost loved ones during Super Storm Sandy. This is why, I would like to encourage you to make this Thanksgiving Day different, to make it a Day of Compassion, a Day where our prayers are accompanied by acts of love, towards those who are still suffering. That’s what Jesus would do.

I cannot forget the thousands of youth, young adults, Academy Students, the leaders of AYES Corps, and the Adventist Medical Cadets Corps who have volunteered thousands of hours, cleaning up driveways and basements, feeding many with mobile kitchens, warm soup, and sandwiches, as well as distributing personal kits, blankets, coats, and cleaning supplies; our Thanksgiving goes to you! You are the best young people in the world. THANK YOU for being Compassionate and Relevant in this time of crisis & disaster.

Today, take time to proclaim your gratefulness to our

Jose, Joanne, Jose III, & Joel

Creator and Redeemer, not only for the great things He has done in your life till this day, but for the wonders and miracles He is about to do. With God’s favor, the best is yet to come.

Together with my family & the Adventist Youth Ministries Directors of our six Conferences in the Atlantic Union, we affectionally send you, all of our love and wish you, and your loved ones, many blessings from God.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Jose

Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church

Posted in: Church
  |  by: AUYouth

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as their only creed and hold certain fundamental beliefs to be the teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These beliefs, as set forth here, constitute the church’s understanding and expression of the teaching of Scripture. Revision of these statements may be expected at a General Conference session when the church is led by the Holy Spirit to a fuller understanding of Bible truth or finds better language in which to express the teachings of God’s Holy Word.

1. Holy Scriptures:
The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God’s acts in history. (2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Tim. 3:16, 17; Ps. 119:105; Prov. 30:5, 6; Isa. 8:20; John 17:17; 1 Thess. 2:13; Heb. 4:12.)2. Trinity:
There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons. God is immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, above all, and ever present. He is infinite and beyond human comprehension, yet known through His self-revelation. He is forever worthy of worship, adoration, and service by the whole creation. (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; Eph. 4:4-6; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 Tim. 1:17; Rev. 14:7.)3. Father:
God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father. (Gen. 1:1; Rev. 4:11; 1 Cor. 15:28; John 3:16; 1 John 4:8; 1 Tim. 1:17; Ex. 34:6, 7; John 14:9.)

A Statement of the Holy Scriptures by the Seventh-day Adventist Church

Posted in: Bible, Church

The Holy Scriptures lie at the foundation of the Seventh-day Adventist understanding of purpose, message, and mission. We respect the Bible as the message of God transmitted through human writers. Although the format of the Scriptures manifests itself in human language, background, and historical setting, its content consists of divine messages conveyed to humanity as a whole, and especially to believers in God. Above the diversity reflected in human language stands the unifying truth that ties together the whole into the Word of God.The Scriptures provide authentic, reliable reports of the Creator God and His activities in bringing into existence the world as well as its inhabitants. They provide knowledge of origins, give meaning to life, and disclose the ultimate destiny of humanity.
Above all, the Scriptures bear testimony to Jesus Christ who is the ultimate revelation, God among us. Both Old and New Testaments bear witness to Him. For these reasons the Holy Scriptures stand as the infallible revelation of God’s will, the norm for Christian values and life, the measure of all things within human experience, and the sole reliable guide to salvation in Christ.*This statement was approved and voted by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Administrative Committee (ADCOM) and was released by the Office of the President, Robert S. Folkenberg, at the General Conference session in Utrecht, the Netherlands, June 29-July 8, 1995.
