Hello Team,
ING NYC Marathon is one of the largest marathon in the world. Last year, a group of 365 volunteers from Greater New York Conference, Northeastern Conference and Southern New England, assisted more than 47,340 runners from all over the world.
This year, we are going to be volunteering again. The New York Road Runners has given the Seventh-Day Adventist Youth Ministries 10 fluid stations including the starting line. They barely have enough volunteers in the Starting line and the Brooklyn locations.Â
Â
I have included each assignment’s description as well as the fluid stations.
The Start
·         It is located underneath the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in an area called Fort Wadsworth
·         At the start volunteers help with distributing coffee, bagels, and water as well as helping in loading the athlete’s baggage
·         Volunteers are at the start from about 5 am-11am
·         New York Road Runners never has enough volunteers at the start so this would be a great place to have your group
·         Volunteers should be at least 18 years old if they are going to volunteer in this area
Â
Fluid Stations
·         This is the area where we have most of our volunteers (13 or older). We have 24 fluid stations throughout the five boroughs
·         Volunteering at these fluid stations is literally an eight hour day. The shifts are usually either 6am-2pm, 7am-3pm, or 8am-5pm
·         Volunteers help to set up the station, hand out the water and Gatorade to the runners, and clean up after all the runners have come through
Â

Dear Colleague & Friend:
GodEncounters is an annual life-changing event attended by hundreds of Young Adults and Young Professionals of the Atlantic Union. It is a time for spiritual, emotional, physical, vision, and mission renewal. A weekend of healing, when lives are changed and decisions are made for Christ. It is also a perfect opportunity for Young Professionals and Young Adults to invite their non-Adventist friends. This year, a special emphasis will be placed on Compassion and how Young Adults can become a vital part of the mission of their local church, by living a life of compassion with the priorities of Jesus.
